Spicy “Isla Flotante” or Floating Island Cocktail

It’s the weekend! Check out my reels about making this drink I created for my hubby on Thursday. I call it the “Spicy Isla Flotante” aka spicy floating island. Garnished with sea salt, nutmeg and lime zest, this baby has egg white in it which makes it velvety and smooth. It also has jalapeño tequila and some @drinkaddition chipotle spice. To make it extra spicy, mull 1/2 jalapeño and add it into the shaker bit don’t forget to double strain if you do!

Ingredients

  • lemon or lime juice

  • Cointreau

  • orange flower water

  • jalapeño tequila like Tanteo

  • egg whites (I use the ones that come pasteurized in carton)

  • simple syrup.

Garnish: lime zest, nutmeg and chipotle spice.

Directions

In a shaker WITHOUT ICE add 2 shots of egg whites, 2 shots of lime or lemon (fresh squeezed and yes it makes a difference) juice, 3/4 shot of simple syrup, 2 shots of Cointreau, 3 shots of jalapeño tequila, 2 shots of orange flower water. Now be careful because when shaking the egg white creates pressure and it can be all over you. You need two hands to hold that lid on or slowly release pressure while shaking. Shake for 15 seconds over your sink ;) just in case.

Now it will be frothy and you can add the ice.
