Cucumber Blood Orange Margarita

Is anyone else accidentally becoming a professional bartender during quarantine? That’s what I thought! So here is a recipe for a drink I created because I had made some extra cucumber syrup. Here’s the recipe:

Cucumber 🥒 Blood Orange Margarita
Ingredients

  • 8 limes squeezed (you can’t have too much of freshly squeezed limes) * Blood orange juice (Whole Foods had it)

  • 2 mini cucumbers

  • Sugar in the raw (the brown kind)

  • Tequila silver 100% agave (I used 1800)

  • Coarse salt (happened to have the pink Himalayan kind)

  • Cointreau orange liqueur or grand mariner or triple sec

Actual drink proportions:
- 1 fat shot of lime juice fresh squeezed
- 6 tsp of cucumber simple syrup
- 1 fat shot of blood orange juice
- 1 small pinch of pink Himalayan coarse salt (which made the drink foamy)
- 2 shots of 100% agave tequila
- 1/2 shot of Cointreau

Directions
Effort is required but worth it. I buy the mini cucumbers 🥒. Put 2 in a mini food processor with 1/2 cup water and 1 tablespoon of raw brown sugar. Mix and then use a strainer and a spoon to get all the liquid out into a small cup or bowl. Set aside. Throw away the excess pulp.

Now assemble all the drink ingredients into your cocktail shaker with a cup of ice. Shake shake shake for 15 seconds and pour over ice in your glass. Makes 2 drinks. Feel free to add a round of cucumber as garnish.
